Where To Get A Free Web Site

present-150291_640Sometimes you don’t need all the bells and whistles.  Sometimes all you want is a free web site, a simple blog.  And you don’t care whether the domain name is totally yours, like yourname.com, or if it has some other stuff in it like yourname.anothercompanyname.com

And sometimes you are quite happy to work it all out for yourself from the information provided online, and don’t need to have someone to hold your hand and show you how to do it.

I am often asked by people who want a web site for a hobby or just for their own personal news, how much do I charge to build it.  Well, it varies, but it is usually more than what these people expected.  You see, when you hire someone like me to build your site for you, you are getting your hand held at every step.  You know the site will be secure, and it will have tutorial videos built in and lots of features.

But I understand, for many people they don’t want to spend that sort of money.  In fact, a lot of people don’t want to spend any money at all.  I don’t do free sites.  The sites I build are worth what I charge for them, to the people who buy them from me.

So, if you are looking for a free web site, I recommend you head to either http://wordpress.com or http://blogger.com .

The WordPress one is my preference because it is the free version of what I use with clients.  So  client who has had a wordpress.com site is already comfortable with using it, when they come to me later and say they are ready for a more comprehensive site.

But the advantage of the blogger site is that it is owned by Google, which can help with your rankings.  If that is important to you.

Other alternatives include http://sites.google.com , or http://joomla.com

Both are great, and if you don’t find what you like in the first two, try one of them.

I hope this helps you if you are looking for a free web site!
