Website Pricing and Plans

Overview

When choosing a website plan, there are several things to consider.  I apologise if this is complex, but I would be happy to have a conversation with you to determine what your needs are, and what the resulting cost would be.

First, you need to decide what type of website you want (there are more details below).  

A Starter Website is a tidy, professional site for small service businesses, up to 5 pages.

A Business Website has more room, more content, and more structure for a growing business.  Up to 12 pages.

And an Online Store is a simple, reliable online shop built on WooCommerce. 

Note: You will have access to add more pages, products*, blog posts yourself later.  

(*Adding products is only available if you choose an Online Store.)

Next, you need to decide how you want to pay for the website.

With an Up-Front Build, you have a medium up-front cost, and options for ongoing fees (including free).

With a Spread-The-Cost Build, you have a lower up-front cost, but a higher monthly fee for 12 months.

With Build & Hand Over, there is a higher up-front cost, and no ongoing monthly fee (but you pay these elsewhere or manage it yourself).

And finally, there are options for ongoing fees once your website is live.

Self Managed: You provide the hosting, you do updates, you take full responsibility for everything (or find someone else to do it). $0 per month (i.e. free – you don’t pay us anything)

Essentials Care: We provide hosting, updates, backups, security, standard support response times.  $NZ79 per month + GST if you are in NZ.

Priority Care: Everything in Essentials Care, plus priority support, up to 30 minutes of help each month, assistance with content tidying, quarterly performance monitoring.  $NZ199 per month + GST if you are in NZ.  On a Spread-The-Cost Build plan, this is the only option for the first 12 months.  After 12 months, you can stay on this plan, or go to one of the others.

FAQs

Why are “Up-Front Build” and “Build & Hand Over” priced differently?

Up-Front Build is priced lower because I build your site inside my system, which reduces the technical steps needed. Build & Hand Over is higher because it requires extra preparation, tool removal, packaging, and testing so the site can run reliably on your own hosting.

 

Why is the Spread-the-Cost Build tied to a 12-month care plan?

The lower up-front cost is supported by the First-Year Care plan. This covers hosting with  Flywheel Hosting, updates, security, AI tools, and support during the period where most clients need extra help. After 12 months, you can choose any other care plan or move to Self-Managed.

 

Can I move between care plans later?

Yes. You can move from Essentials Care to Priority Care at any time, or drop to Self-Managed if you prefer. The only exception is the first 12 months of a Spread-the-Cost Build, which must stay on First-Year Care.

 

What happens if I choose Self-Managed?

Self-Managed means you take responsibility for hosting (we recommend Flywheel Hosting), updates, security, backups, and any repairs the site may need. AI tools are removed at launch, and no support or monitoring is included.

 

Can I upgrade from Self-Managed later?

Yes. You can move to Essentials Care or Priority Care at any time, as long as your hosting meets minimum technical requirements. If your hosting is not suitable, I can help you migrate to a stable environment before upgrading.

 

What if I want a custom package?

Most clients fit neatly into one of the main packages, but if your business has very specific needs, I can prepare a tailored quote. This might apply to large online shops, membership sites, directory sites, or businesses with complex integrations.

 

When is payment due?

For the website builds 50% of the up-front payment is due at the start of the project. You also set up your account at Flywheel Hosting (or elsewhere) before I start the build.  Then there are two 25% progress payments before the site goes live.  The payments for ongoing support (if applicable) start a month after the site goes live.  For the first month, there is no payment while we are checking that it is all working OK.

 

Does hosting include email?

No. Website hosting and email hosting work differently. I can recommend reliable business email solutions such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 if needed, along with someone to implement this for you.

 

Are domain names included?

No. You keep full control of your domain by registering it in your own account. If you need help choosing or managing a domain provider, I can assist.

 

What if the price is more than I was expecting?

I’m always happy to walk you through the options and help you adjust the package to suit your goals and your cashflow. It may be possible to reduce pages, simplify features, or choose a different build option to keep things workable for your budget.
